Jim Malernee is a cofounder of Cornerstone Research. Over the last twenty-five years, he has directed research on complex business issues related to a wide variety of cases. In recent years, Dr. Malernee has specialized in securities matters, supervising hundreds of cases dealing with material disclosure, insider trading, mergers and acquisitions, targeted repurchases, minority buyouts, stock trading behavior, and valuation.
He has prepared a number of cases for trial, including: American Pacific Securities Litigation, Continental Illinois Bank Securities Litigation, In re Hillsborough Holdings, Kahn v. Tremont, Mary Kay Cosmetics Securities Litigation, Mentor Graphics v. Quickturn Design Systems, Oracle v. PeopleSoft, Walt Disney Securities Litigation, and Walter B. Hewlett v. Hewlett-Packard Company. He also has testified in federal district court in Pace Warehouse v. Tudor Insurance Co.
Dr. Malernee has served as a consultant to major corporations and has taught finance at the University of Texas, Austin, and business strategy at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.Back to Senior Staff list
