Ward A. Hanson

Ward Hanson has conducted pioneering research on the commercialization and impact of the Internet. He analyzes how high technology and innovation affect the economy and society, with particular focus on competition, policy issues, and pricing.

Dr. Hanson has taught at Stanford for more than two decades, first at the Graduate School of Business, then as part of the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR) as a SIEPR Fellow and Policy Forum Director. He has served as an expert witness in matters related to patent validity, e-commerce, Internet advertising, and industry analysis. He has testified at trial both in the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as providing Internet policy guidance for the U.S. government and the European Union.
