Counsel retained Professor Robert Whitelaw of New York University and Cornerstone Research in connection with a contract dispute related to the strategy of a hedge fund.

Professor Whitelaw addressed the nature of hedge funds and hedge fund trading, industry standards of classifying hedge fund trading strategies, and the evolution of hedge fund trading strategies over time. In addition, Professor Whitelaw evaluated the similarity of trading strategies across a number of funds run by the company. Cornerstone Research’s work on this case involved a detailed analysis of large-scale, position-level data that included equities, futures, swaps, and other securities.

The case settled shortly after a jury trial had begun.
