Cornerstone Research was retained by counsel for a developer of online social games, which alleged that several of its key employees were induced by a competitor to breach their duties of loyalty and misappropriate trade secrets. Our staff retrieved data from a variety of sources regarding the popularity of various social games, including those allegedly developed with and without the trade secrets at issue, and analyzed research on the revenue generated by users of such games. These data were used to develop estimates of the sales that were lost by our client assuming misappropriation of trade secrets. A Cornerstone Research expert presented the results of the analysis at arbitration. The case settled.
