Vellali et al. v. Yale University et al.

Share

A federal jury found for the university defendant in this ERISA matter.

Retained by Mayer Brown

The plaintiffs in this matter claimed Yale University (Yale) violated the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) by failing to adequately monitor and direct their $5.5 billion retirement plan. Defense counsel retained Cornerstone Research for consulting work and to support a retirement plan expert.

This was one of the first ERISA litigations targeting a university retirement plan. In 2023, after many years of investigation and trial, a federal jury delivered a complete victory to Yale.
