Paul Zurek of Cornerstone Research and David Smith of the University of Virginia will join panels to discuss judicial practices in valuation, bankruptcy, and financial proceedings on day one of this two-day conference in Chicago.
Dr. Zurek, a testifying expert who also teaches corporate finance at Stanford Law School, will join legal scholars, practicing attorneys, and judges for a panel titled “General Judicial Practices.” Panelists will discuss the complexities of asset valuation and related expert testimony in various litigation contexts. Panelists will also explore the role that courts play in assessing expert evidence during the valuation process.
Professor Smith, who formerly served as an economist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve Board, will join a panel titled “Private Credit and Valuation in the Bargaining Context.” Together with attorneys and academic and financial experts, Professor Smith will discuss the role of private credit in determining valuation and restructuring methods during strategic negotiations.
