At this Cornerstone Research event, Mike Walker, chief economic adviser at the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) spoke about a range of current issues in competition economics.

In particular, Dr Walker discussed the growth of big data and machine-learning techniques; merger control in the United Kingdom and the United States; and the role of the competition and regulatory system for both the high tech and FinTech industries.

Mike Walker is the chief economic adviser at the UK Competition and Markets Authority. He has worked on the economics of competition law and regulation for more than twenty years. Dr Walker is the co-author of The Economics of EU Competition Law and a number of published articles. He is a professor at the College of Europe in Bruges and a visiting fellow at King’s College, London.
