Dr. Kirti Gupta Joins Cornerstone Research as Vice President and Chief Economist of Global Technology

Distinguished economist and tech expert bolsters firm’s technology industry capabilities.

Cornerstone Research, a leading provider of economic and financial consulting and expert testimony, today announced that Dr. Kirti Gupta has joined the firm in San Francisco as Vice President and Chief Economist of Global Technology.

A 20-year industry veteran, engineer-and-economist Dr. Gupta is well known in the technology world, having previously held the position of chief economist at Qualcomm Inc., where she and her team provided Qualcomm’s executives and business leaders with economic analysis and thought leadership on global technology, intellectual property, antitrust, and macroeconomic policy issues. Dr. Gupta is a recognized thought leader and author on issues at the intersection of technology, antitrust, and intellectual property.

She serves as a senior advisor at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a Washington D.C.–based think tank, and as the executive director at the Institute for Business Innovation at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to her role as an economist, Dr. Gupta spent over a decade as an engineering expert for global wireless standards and semiconductors that connect most of the mobile devices in the world today.

At Cornerstone Research, Dr. Gupta will consult on and serve as an expert witness for antitrust, intellectual property, and technology matters in the United States and globally.

Dr. Gupta earned her Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, San Diego, and M.S. in electrical engineering from Purdue University. She holds over 50 patents, has published widely in policy, law, and economic journals, and is regularly featured in media outlets including Forbes, Bloomberg, CNBC, and The Economist.
