Todd Milbourn Named Tenth Dean of SMU Cox School of Business

Professor Milbourn joins SMU Cox after more than two decades at Olin Business School, Washington University in St. Louis.

Finance professor Todd Milbourn has been named the new dean of the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University (SMU). Professor Milbourn is the tenth dean to lead the business school since its founding in 1920. He will also hold the Tolleson Chair in Business Leadership and the Andrew H. Chen Endowed Chair in Financial Investments.

In announcing Professor Milbourn’s appointment, SMU President R. Gerald Turner said, “The Cox School of Business will be in good hands with Dr. Milbourn, who brings a strong dedication to advancing financial research and education and a tremendous energy for engaging the business community. His expertise and experience will help prepare our future business leaders for the dynamic challenges ahead.”

Previously, at the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis, Professor Milbourn taught finance-related courses, held numerous research and faculty leadership positions, and eventually served as deputy dean. As an expert witness, he has been retained by private firms, the U.S. Department of Justice, and by individuals in cases related to executive compensation, fair rates of return, breach of contract damages, lost earnings, and investment programs.
