USC Appoints Darius Lakdawalla to University Professorship

The university recognizes the prominent health economist and health policy expert for his exceptional interdisciplinary research and scholarly impact.

The University of Southern California (USC) has named Professor Darius N. Lakdawalla a University Professor. This distinction ranks among USC’s highest faculty honors, awarded annually to faculty who have made exceptional academic contributions across multiple disciplines.

Professor Lakdawalla, who serves as chief scientific officer at the USC Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics, joins four other faculty members receiving this year’s honors. Faculty colleagues nominate the honorees based on their sustained scholarly success.

University Professorships are among USC’s highest faculty honors, awarded annually to faculty who have made exceptional academic contributions across multiple disciplines.

In announcing the appointments, USC Provost Andrew T. Guzman said, “These distinctions are awarded annually to exceptional faculty who have brought great distinction and honor to our university through their work. Their research enlightens and enriches collective understandings outside of USC and contributes to the advancement of society.”

As an academic expert affiliated with Cornerstone Research, Professor Lakdawalla applies his extensive health economics and health policy expertise to complex life sciences, intellectual property, and competition matters.

USC will celebrate Professor Lakdawalla’s achievements, along with those of his newly appointed colleagues, at the Faculty Academic Honors Convocation on April 13.
