Dr. Martin-Buck brings years of private and public sector experience to case work, having held senior roles at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), where he analyzed a range of financial regulation, banking risk, consumer finance, and antitrust and competition issues.
Dr. Martin-Buck’s industry experience includes banking, consumer products, energy, technology, and telecommunications. He supports attorneys and experts in all stages of litigation and regulatory matters, including investigations, discovery, depositions, and trial.
At the CFPB, Dr. Martin-Buck worked as an enforcement economist and banking subject matter expert, leading data and economic analysis for the bureau’s investigations and litigations. Leveraging large and complex datasets, his work included assessing potential damages and alleged illegal conduct in areas such as consumer banking, credit cards, payday lending, mortgage servicing, and small business lending.
Dr. Martin-Buck’s experience in competition economics includes investigating merger effects and anticompetitive conduct in medical devices and payment systems while working at the FTC, as well as supporting testifying experts in litigation as a private consultant in matters involving price fixing, tying, and other alleged anticompetitive conduct.
