James Mao is a data science leader with extensive expertise in building and scaling research teams across the data and analytics consulting and investment management sectors. Specializing in large-scale data analytics and technical workflows, Dr. Mao directs the Data Analyst Program at Cornerstone Research’s Data Science Center.
Before joining Cornerstone Research, Dr. Mao oversaw U.S. operations at a global leader in marketing measurement and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. He has a decade of experience in delivering measurable business impact through quantitative research and modeling, including causal inference, econometrics, Bayesian methods, and machine learning. Dr. Mao’s industry expertise includes life sciences, insurance, technology, and telecommunications.
Dr. Mao began his career as an economic consultant focused on the life sciences, conducting counterfactual analysis in patent disputes and devising pricing strategy for pharmaceutical products.
