Natasha Vajravelu consults on consumer fraud and product liability claims, defamation allegations, and data privacy matters. Dr. Vajravelu addresses marketing, branding, and damages issues in these contexts, analyzing consumer behavior and pricing data for class certification and materiality, working across a range of industries. She leads teams to support clients and experts through all stages of litigation, including discovery, deposition, and trial.

Dr. Vajravelu earned a Ph.D. in marketing from Kellogg School of Management. She has published research on pricing for consumer packaged goods, including in her coauthored paper, “Gender-Based Pricing in Consumer Packaged Goods: A Pink Tax?

Dr. Vajravelu consults on consumer fraud and product liability claims across various industries, including consumer packaged goods, mobile apps, and technology products. Her representative experience includes:

  • Assessing the impact of alleged misrepresentation and omissions on labels and advertisements
  • Analyzing consumer behavior in the context of class certification and materiality
  • Analyzing dissemination and reach of advertising, including online advertising
  • Evaluating consumer behavior surveys for product design issues, including factors that may lead to response bias or confusion
Defamation, reputational harm, and branding

Dr. Vajravelu consults on matters related to companies’ reputations and brands, including allegations of defamation. Her representative experience includes:

  • Assessing consumer attention to and understanding of disclosures regarding allegedly defamatory content
  • Applying large language models (LLMs) in content analysis to assess news coverage and perceptions of companies
  • Analyzing consumer behavior and perceptions toward third-party ratings websites
  • In the context of antitrust litigation, supporting a marketing expert to assess the business rationale, from a brand protection perspective, for companies’ allegedly anticompetitive conduct
Data privacy and data breach

Dr. Vajravelu has assessed damages issues related to class certification in the context of privacy and data breach. She has addressed heterogeneity issues in consumers’ valuation of privacy and privacy choices in health mobile apps.
