Education

William Holder has extensive experience as an expert witness in high-profile trials and depositions involving accounting issues. His testimony as an expert in litigation and regulatory proceedings includes the areas of financial accounting and reporting, auditing, governmental accounting, and cost accounting.

Professor Holder has served on several governance and standard-setting bodies for the accounting profession, including as a member of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), on committees of the American Accounting Association, and on the Board of Directors (chair of the Audit Committee) of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Professor Holder provided congressional testimony on corporate accounting practices during the Sarbanes-Oxley Act hearings.

He has received numerous honors, including the AICPA’s Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Service, the organization’s highest honor for a CPA’s lifetime achievement. Professor Holder has won numerous teaching awards, including Best Professor in the University of Southern California master’s degree program.

He is the author or coauthor of six books on accounting. Professor Holder’s research has been widely published in journals, including the Accounting Review, the Journal of AccountancyFinancial Executive, and the CPA Journal.
