Emilie Feldman is a corporate strategy and governance expert. Professor Feldman focuses on the role that spinoffs, divestitures, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) play in corporate reconfiguration, the internal functioning of multi-business firms, and the impact that large shareholders have on strategic decision-making and outcomes. She has been retained as an expert witness and testified in deposition and arbitration.

Professor Feldman is the author of Divestitures: Creating Value Through Strategy, Structure, and Implementation (McGraw Hill, 2022). She also publishes articles in leading management and strategy journals, notably the Strategic Management Journal, Strategy Science, the Academy of Management Journal, and the Academy of Management Review. A current senior editor of Organization Science, Professor Feldman has also served on several academic editorial boards. The New York Times, The New Yorker, the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post have cited her research.

Among her research accolades, Professor Feldman has received two Distinguished Paper Awards from the Academy of Management. The Strategic Management Society named her coauthored paper “Activist-Impelled Divestitures and Shareholder Value” as Best Conference Paper at the Society’s annual meeting.

At the Wharton School and the University of Pennsylvania, Professor Feldman teaches courses on M&A, divestitures, corporate strategy, and corporate governance to undergraduate, M.B.A., law, and executive education students. A six-time Wharton Teaching Excellence Award winner, she has also received the Undergraduate Excellence in Teaching Award.

Professor Feldman is the academic director of the Global C-Suite Program, an online executive education initiative to help senior executives build leadership skills for C-suite roles in global organizations. She consults to corporations and professional services companies on a range of corporate governance and strategy topics.
