The parties abandoned their intent to merge after the DOJ opened its investigation into the acquisition.

Securus Technologies Inc. (Securus) announced its plans to acquire Inmate Calling Solutions LLC (ICS).  The U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ’s) Antitrust Division then opened an investigation, stating it had significant concerns that the merger would eliminate important competition in the market for inmate telecommunications services.

The DOJ retained Cornerstone Research to support Nathan Miller of Georgetown University as an economic expert. In April 2019, Securus abandoned its plans to acquire ICS.
