Lexology Index Competition 2026: Competition Future Leaders – Economists

In collaboration with Global Competition Review, Lexology Index has recommended multiple Cornerstone Research professionals as “next generation” leaders in the competition field.

The Future Leaders list, developed using feedback from clients and peers, features individuals aged 45 or under who are considered the “pre-eminent names of the next generation.”

Professionals

  • Mark Chicu focuses on antitrust and competition matters, including analysis of mergers and allegedly anticompetitive conduct. Before joining Cornerstone, Dr. Chicu served as an Acting Assistant Chief in the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
  • Avigail Kifer specializes in merger review, antitrust and competition, and technology and artificial intelligence (AI) matters. Dr. Kifer has expertise in empirical industrial organization and quantitative marketing and draws on academic and market research to develop robust, holistic analyses.
  • Todd J. Kumler consults on economic and statistical matters related to antitrust and competition and claims of consumer fraud and product liability. Dr. Kumler applies econometric tools and other empirical analyses to assess class certification, liability, and damages issues.
  • Ana McDowall’s antitrust experience includes merger reviews and cases alleging exclusionary conduct and price fixing. Dr. McDowall has expertise with issues in the U.S. and European contexts, and her industry expertise includes digital and financial markets, retail, and telecommunications.
  • Lorenzo Michelozzi applies economics and marketing expertise to merger reviews, data privacy matters, and intellectual property disputes. Dr. Michelozzi works on cases across numerous industries, with a focus on consumer goods, digital markets, financial services, and telecommunications.
