Xiaoyuan Hu consults on securities matters in the consumer goods, energy, pharmaceuticals, real estate investment trust (REIT), and technology industries. Dr. Hu has addressed issues related to class certification, loss causation, damages, and settlements. She also has experience with valuation issues in the context of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and in the venture capital industry. Dr. Hu provides economic and financial analysis and expert support in all phases of commercial litigation.

Dr. Hu has led teams on large securities litigations involving complex quantitative and qualitative analysis. Her experience includes:

  • Applying statistical methodologies to assess price impact, including analyzing intraday co-movements between company stock prices and industry- or market-wide stock performance
  • Assessing class certification and loss causation issues related to transactions and legal rulings involving spin-offs, market commentaries, and product liability lawsuits and disclosures
  • Analyzing securities damages and settlements for numerous Rule 10b-5 and/or Section 11 claims, including cases involving special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs), international companies, and cross-listed securities
  • Applying refined methodologies to assess damages for institutional investors

Dr. Hu has published her research in the European Journal of Finance.
