Our research applies regression analysis to examine the relationship between settlement outcomes and certain security case characteristics. The number of securities class action settlements declined 21% in 2023 relative to 2022, following the 15-year high set in 2022.

Our most recent report found that the number of securities class action settlements increased to a 15-year high in 2022, with a similarly dramatic increase in the total dollar value of settlements. Median “simplified tiered damages” also reached a record high.
