Cornerstone Research Named in 2022 Matter of the Year, Litigation of the Year – Non Cartel Defence, and Merger Control Matter of the Year – Europe by Global Competition Review.

Washington, DCGlobal Competition Review recognized Cornerstone Research for its economic support in the litigation between Epic Games and Apple, and in the European Commission’s investigation of EssilorLuxottica’s purchase of GrandVision from HAL Optical Investments.

Matter of the Year and Litigation of the Year – Non-Cartel Defence
Epic v. Apple won GCR’s 2022 awards for Matter of the Year and Litigation of the Year – Non-Cartel Defence. The case, which focused on Apple’s App Store, has been closely watched in litigation circles and by the mainstream media.

Working on behalf of Apple, Cornerstone Research supported three experts, Dominique Hanssens of the University of California, Los Angeles; Lorin Hitt of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania; and Francine Lafontaine of the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan.

Vandy Howell, Todd Kumler, Vildan Altuglu, and Kostis Hatzitaskos led the Cornerstone Research team.

For the fourth year in a row, GCR has honored Cornerstone Research for outstanding economic support in high-profile matters with global impact.

Merger Control Matter of the Year – Europe
In addition, GCR recognized the firm for its work in securing antitrust approval for EssilorLuxottica’s acquisition of GrandVision, a global optical retail chain. Cornerstone Research supported Ravi Dhar of the Yale School of Management, who served as an expert in the matter.
